Project JSON

Export a whole project as one JSON file. Open it again in this or any other browser to carry on where you left off, or keep it as a backup.

Export it

Open Export in the top bar and choose Export project JSON. You don’t need to solve first.

What’s in the file

  • Your requirements, with their stable identities.
  • Locks, reservations, placement rules and the baseline.
  • The last completed result, if there is one.
  • The versions needed to reopen it honestly: file format, project schema, device revision and solver.

The file holds the project as it is now. Its history and other branches stay in the browser it came from.

Open it again

On the new-project screen, under “Already have a project file?”, choose the file. It opens as a new project in this browser, and the project you exported from is untouched.

An imported file is treated as untrusted data: it is size-checked and validated before anything uses it, and nothing in it is ever run. A file from a format or schema version this build doesn’t support is refused with a message, not silently converted. An imported result is shown as data, with the device revision and solver that produced it. It is checked again before anything that depends on it, such as the KiCad export.
